20 Best of the year 2013 Faroese Music Awards presented this weekend

Viking Metal band TÝR won three awards at this years FMA.

Electro pop duo BYRTA (FO) and the viking metal band TÝR (FO) were the great winners this weekend, when the Faroese Music Awards were presented.

Byrta

Electro pop duo Byrta won three awards at this years FMA.

The greatest winners
BYRTA og TÝR got three awards each.

TÝR got the “Band of the year”, “Album of the year” and “Album cover of the year” awards in the category Rock/Metal, Jazz, Blues and Folk for their album “Valkyrja”.

BYRTA was nominated in the category Pop and Country and got the “Album of the year, “Band of the year” as well as the “New Band of the Year” awards for their album “Byrta”.

20 awards
20 FMA awards were handed Saturday evening.

One of the most touching moments was when Simme was honoured with a “Life time achievement” award. Baroli Music got the “Best producers of the year” award, and the music event HOYMA, which the G! festival held in october last year, won the title of “Best event of the year”.

Two surprises
There were some surprises at the awards ceremony. Kvartettin í Betesda (the Betesda Queartet) was chosen as the “Band/Group of the year” in the open category. And the only 17 year old Døgg Nónsgjógv got the award “Best song of the year” in the Pop category for her song “Tú tók mína hond” (You took my hand).
